Pros and Cons of Air Travel
The popularity of air travel has been increasing in the past few decades. Air travel is convenient and safe and these are the main reasons that have contributed to the increase in popularity of air travel. The following are some of the positive and negative factors involving air travel.
Disadvantage: Airplanes Cause Pollution.
The biggest drawback for traveling by air is the pollution. Airplanes are responsible for sending greenhouse gases into our atmosphere and these gases contribute for things like global warming. This is considered as a serious drawback by people who are keen to limit the effect of global warming on the universe. In order to overcome this problem many airlines nowadays make efforts to become more environmental friendly. One of the ways in which this is achieved by many of these airlines is to retrofit winglet devices that make the aircraft fuel efficient. In addition, most of the airlines have been modernizing their aircraft to more fuel efficient aircraft by spending a lot of money thereby reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
Disadvantage: High Cost
People refrain from traveling by air because of the high cost of air travel. You may be able to travel by car to many destinations at a very cheap price as compared to traveling by flight. You can take advantage of discount
airline travel to obviate the high cost of travel by air. If you can find a good deal for airfare it can be the deciding factor for many people whether they will fly or drive.
Disadvantage: Fear of Flying
Many people refrain from flying. In case anybody flew in a flight which experienced extreme turbulence or some type of other event they feel terrified and hence do not prefer to fly.
Advantage: Speed of Travel
One of the major advantages in air travel is that it is able to take you to any of the places where airports are available at a much faster rate than any other forms of transportation. Flying between two destinations in United States which are connected by air takes a few hours whereas going by car between these destinations might take a number of days. This helps us to enjoy longer vacations because we have to spend less time traveling.
Advantage: Easy to Travel Long Distances
In case you have to travel to far off destinations you will find that it is difficult to travel by any other mode other than air travel. We can fly to any destination around the world. Flying to far off destinations takes longer duration; however they are still shorter than the time taken if you had to rely on alternative modes of transportation.
Advantage: Safety
When you consider various modes of travel, you will find that travel by air is the safest. Car accidents wherein people die happen in thousands every year. Even train derailments causing deaths are also being heard of very frequently. This is not to say that air accidents do not take place; however frequency of such accidents is very small. Decision making on the mode of travel has been very easy for many people who consider safety as the main factor for opting to fly.
Choosing air travel is a personal decision, based on the factors discussed above along with a multitude factors not discussed here. For most travelers safety, speed of travel and cost are the over riding factors. As long as cost remains affordable air travel will continue to grow in popularity.
