The sun, the elements, terrain and gravity shape our evolution. What if all that were taken away?
Hypothetically speaking, if some twisted alien species decided to abduct and give us a drug that permanently destroyed all our senses Touch, Taste, Hearing, Sight and Smell. And then just kept us in small coffin sized capsules for observation while artificially reproducing us over billions of generations how would our bodies degenerate? My guess is we would turn into some sort of tree or plant like creature.
Excellent question! There are so many variables I would want to account for. Weight, gravity levels, exposure to oxygen or no oxygen or other atmospheric compounds. All of these would be contributing factors to the rate of degeneration. Still, if I had to posit a single set of results, I would have to say that our muscles would atrophy most certainly. Without walking, moving, or carrying weight, we would experience bone loss. Perhaps we would eventually revert back to single celled states.
