Which of these two chainrings is stronger?
I’m replacing the 22t inner chainring on my mountain bike. Is Stainless Steel stronger than the 7075 aluminum alloy? I’m trying to go for the more durable choice. I use the granny gear a lot and I need it to hold up. Weight is not an issue. (Nor is price since they’re both pretty inexpensive)
As long as it fits 64/104, I’m in. All the steel ones are “out of stock” on every site and store I’ve been to. As heavy as I am (265) I was worried about replacing granny with something that can’t handle the abuse. Thank you.
If price isnt an issue, nothing tops the Ti XTR granny ring from Shimano…
That aside, a steel ring will last longer than an aluminium but it’ll eat up your chain faster too. Realistically speaking, the difference isnt going to be massive in either case so you’re pretty well fine with either.
