force probe?
This lab has to do with rigid body equilibrium with a force probe reading from an aluminium bar.
If the bar were pinned in the center (pin 6) instead of the end (and everything else the same), why wouldn’t we be able to get valid data? What single change should be made to get good data?
Well this depends on what experimental setup you are running.
But with this new setup, the bar does not rotate as easily. This is due to the modified radius of the arm. Likely your setup measures force by really measuring torque.
torque = F x r
So if you want to get good force measurements, you need to have the radius of the instrument properly set.
