painting dirtbike rims suggestions…..?
so i might be getting this 03 yz250f.if i did,as a winter project i would strip the frames paint and paint it black but it would be done right!people say do powercoating but i simply cant afford that,money is too tight.with doing it myself,i can do it for about 50 bucks at the most.if i do the frame black,i would like to do the rims as well.it would be done with pj1 epoxy paint and from what i read its pretty strong compared to enamel.if i painted the rims i would just be worried about it chipping when it comes time for tires but i wouldnt put them on,i would have a machine shop do it just to be safe.does this sounds good?it would all be done the right way.powder coating and anodizing is not an option
also,i would just buy warp 9 rims at i believe 80 bucks a rim or something like that but i cant afford that either when i can paint both rims for way cheaper
It all seems like a waste of time and money. Dirt bikes get dirty, they get dinged and dropped. No paint that you apply will be anywhere as durable as the baked-on factory coat. Everywhere your paint gets scratched or worn off will likely look worse than the bike looks now. Shops usually scratch up rims more than the average rider changing tires him/herself. Do you want a Dirt Bike to ride, or are you going to permanently display it above your fireplace?
