Samsung CLX 3160FN – Makes for A Wonderful Printer
If you are looking for a network ready all-on-one color laser printer the Samsung CLX 3160FN printer is a great option to purchase for small work groups and offices. It offers great value for money for general purpose multitasking and is able to fax, copy and scan as well as scan to email. It is not one of the fastest printers of its caliber available, it is however reliable and only really slows down when graphics printing is required.The best toner for this printer is the CLX 3160FN cartridge.
The features of this printer are very compelling and the print and scan quality is good. It does not have a terribly small footprint so it is not very well suited for very small office spaces. Although it can be safely used from the confines of a utility closet in a small office! The dimensions measure 16.9″ deep, by 18.3″ wide and 19.1″ tall, it weighs 45 pounds, has hand wells in both sides, and can easily be moved by one person.
The scanner is an A4 flat bed which makes use of an automatic paper feeder that can hold a maximum of 50 sheets of plain paper. The scanner and copier can also make scans and copies of legal sized documents. Images and documents are able to be scanned to the network, a USB drive or your PC.
The printer will make as many as 99 copies at once, and either the ADF or the flat-bed scanner can be used for copying purposes. It poster copies, image clones, zooms and will copy both 2 and 4 up, it also ID card copies. If it is enlargements or reductions you want, making use of the scanner will enable a size ratio of 25 percent to 400 percent. However the ADF enlargement and reduction feature is limited to only 25 percent to 100 percent.
This printer arrives standard with a single paper cassette which holds 150 sheets of paper. The cassette can be configured to fit several paper sizes and there is also a single sheet feed tray for manual feed. This has adjustable paper guides which makes it very useful for once off printing.

Samsung CLX 3160FN toner plugs are simple to remove and replace. The machine is packaged with toner plugs, however these are starter plugs and you will not get as many copies out of them as you will with new replacement toner plugs. The starter toner will however get you about 1500 black copies and 700 color copies. New replacement toner will get you quite substantially more than this, generally around 500 more copies in both the instance of the black and the color plugs. Black copies cost approximately 3c and color approximately 18c. The print volume is 24000 monthly and this is one of the reasons why this Samsung machine is recommended for small office environments.
