Have you put drop handlebar bar ends on your bike?
I’m training for a century and am not sure yet that I’ll have the money to get a true racing bike in time to get used to it etc beforehand. I’m trying to find a way to be more aero and avoid the big upfront cost of getting a racing bike…
Has anyone ever seen or used bar ends that are drops?

Scott used to sell a similar product, but the market was for road racers. They were meant to attach to the handlebar near the stem, so when the rider was in the drops his hands would be close together instead of far apart and therefore more aerodynamic. They actually work pretty well in that application. They are not legal in all types of racing, but no one would complain in your basic century ride.
I would recommend getting a set of aerobars instead, similar to these:

You’ll get a much more aerodynamic effect and they are comfortable for long rides. You MUST practice riding with these types of bars first though. You lose alot of stability with them, and you should be familiar with how differently the bike handles when you’re using them.
