Colnago steel bike frames are strengthened by chromium, molybdenum and vanadium and shaped to exact specifications. Another suitable material that is used for less expensive frames is aluminum. These frames are light and rigid, due to aluminum’s low density yet relative high strength for its cost, and are suitable for most riders’ needs.
For sportive riders not comfortable with the traditional tucked road racing bicycle riding position, Colnago offers bicycles with a special ergonomic design that gives cyclists a more upright riding position. This is ideally suited for enjoying the scenery during long distance, mass-participation organized cycling events, while stability, accurate handling and safety are still maintained.
The headset is important on a top-quality bicycle. One of the advantages of Colnago bikes is the use of a semi-integrated headset that helps reduce weight and improve bicycle appearance as well as maintenance. This is far better than utilizing the cleaner looking integrated system that became popular recently in the bike industry, which risks the integrity of the frame as the bearings are seated directly against the head tube.
An important consideration for top-end bikes is the headset. One of the many advantages of Colnago bikes includes their semi-integrated headset, rather than the recently fashionable integrated system that has clean lines but where the bearings are positioned immediately into the head tube. This can eventually cause a lot of damage to the frame, which would need full replacement. The semi-integrated headset still keeps the bike looking good, but allows for easier maintenance and weight reduction.
