How do I get involved with bicycle road racing. I have an old 14 speed and I live in the San Francisco Area.?
I’m an athletic 5’6″ male that is now 23 and was once an all league half mile track and field runner. My competitive edge is calling again and bicycle riding is fun to me and I want to try it competitively. I noticed there are rankings 5 – 1 called CATS. Someone help!!!
Hooking up with a club is a good way to get into racing. Some clubs put on informal races or TTs. They may have a road and MTB race team as well. You’ll learn a lot for this experience. Check with a few bike shops around you for info.
As far as categories, cat 5 is where you begin and cat 1 is where the fastest riders are.
Your bike may be fine to race on for a while. If it’s a solid bike with decent wheels you should do OK.
