I wonna buy a bike for excersize biking purposes, what do i need to know?

I saw in wal mart bikes for $100 to $300 etc., i would like to start biking every day, maybe even longer drives like 90-120 minutes, but i have no idea what i have to look for in a bike and howmuch it’s worth, whats a good price and whats overpay, etc.etc.

First you have to determine your personal goals. Are you over weight? Riding for fun. Riding to compete in a competition?
If you simply want exercise and live where the area is mostly flat, a beach cruiser you can buy for $250.00 new or $40.00 to 180.00 used. Beach cruisers have bigger softer seats and bigger more beafy tires that provides a smooth ride while exercising. Any pumping with your legs will get you losing weight fast.
There are mountain bikes for more extreme bikers and those bikes go for the same range.
When you get into the long distance riding you need to change bike styles to 10-20 speeds, these can really vary from $300- thousands of dollars. Weight and bike material and manufacturer determine the cost. Regardless of your skill look on craigs list or ebay and you will save alot. Another great source for bikes is a garage sale. You will need to be the first one there to gets bikes because they go first. Start off with a beach cruiser, if you determine you need more gears you are not out alot of money and easy to eliminate.
