Creating a “Me” Bike with Tagglia
When I look around my apartment, everything I lay my eyes on has a bit of me in it. I have personally picked out everything in my abode, from my TV down to the ceramic knobs on my drawers. Everything, you can say, has its own story.
I am a biker, and biking is a big part of my life. By no means am I a competitive biker, but I do ride my bike everyday—I go to work riding it on weekdays, and I take it to rougher terrain during the weekends as a hobby. In this respect I would say that I have ‘gone green’, and incidentally, my favorite color (and my apartment’s general splash of color) is green.
I went around many bike shops trying to look for the exact color that I wanted, which is a cross between lime and olive green, and I just couldn’t find it. Usually the bikes I would come across would either be the macho black or red ones, and the more friendly colored bikes would usually have a basket in front. I needed a bike that would perform as my lifestyle dictates, but would also be as feminine and earthy as me.
I took my search online and was able to come across Tagglia bikes, which offers bike customization. It actually took customization one step further because I could design the bike myself. Right there. On the website. How crazy is that? I got really excited and the first thing I looked for was the color. Lo and behold, they could do the exact shade of green I was looking for!
Tagglia makes use of carbon fiber technology for all their bikes so an added bonus was that my bike would surely be sturdy and lightweight. I went about the business of selecting my frame, wheels and accessories, and was quite happy with the end product. Here’s the cherry on the icing: I was able to personalize my tags too, and I choose to put across my frame bar “Verde Chic”, homage to my Spanish lineage (“verde” means green in Spanish) and my own little effort at saving the environment.
Needless to say I am very happy with the bike that I am riding right now. It is not merely a bike that I purchased; it is a bike that I had a part in creating. It is a part of me, and just like the other things in my life, my bike has a story.
