How can I lighten up my MTB bike?
I have a MTB bike that I built and it is sooo heavy, I cannot afford, nor do I want carbon fiber, can anyone help with ideas to lighten the bike so its not so heavy without sacrificing too much performance? thanks so much btw I hope to take it DH and freeride
It’d be better to know the make/model and parts you have on it and the current weight.
A DH dual suspension bike is usually around 17kg (on average). My dually weighs 15.3kg.
It’s hard to say what would make it lighter but generally front and rear shocks, steel/aluminum frames, and cheap and nasty wheel-sets are the culprits. Go into your local bike shop and ask them, it may even be cheaper/better to get a new bike.
PS Kudos for not wanting carbon.
