The Advantages Of Elevating Your Sleeping Platform
Sleeping lofts offer numerous attractive advantages, particularly for a smaller bedroom. The increase in floor space is certainly a major benefit. Although most frequently used in a child’s room, a sleeping platform is also a good choice for an efficiency apartment, dorm room, or vacation cabin.
The normal loft bed consists of a platform that is reached by means of a ladder. Underneath, the space is open and available for other utilization. People use this area for many different purposes, such as storage, stereo systems, or bookcases, to name just a few.
A full size loft bed is a valuable addition to an efficiency type apartment. A futon can easily fit in the space below, providing seating space for watching television or playing games. Since many efficiencies require transforming the sofa into a bed every night, both time and effort are saved.
A loft bed with desk is a good choice for a dorm or child’s room. The area is normally adequate to hold not only a work desk but also the computer, chair, and bookcase. You will probably need to add a lamp for sufficient light. Some children like to transform their extra space into a game haven by placing the system and television below their lofts.
For vacation cabins, the room beneath the bed is sometimes used for luggage racks to hold suitcases, so that there is no need to unpack completely. A futon tucked underneath gives additional sleeping space. On rainy days, the area can be transformed into a play fort for children longing for something to do.
In a child’s room, placing a small futon below a twin sized loft gives seating for visitors and a bed for an overnight guest. The available space can also be used for a model train track, doll house, or race car set. Organization can be made easier by placing storage bins, toy boxes, or bookcases under the platform.
In a dorm room, the space underneath the loft can be turned into a compact kitchen. Microwaves, portable refrigerators, and dishware are placed on stands aligned with the edge of the platform. Students can also store items such as exercise gear, bikes, and reference books in an accessible yet unobtrusive area.
Considering the possible uses for the additional floor space often makes one realize just how advantageous a sleeping loft might be. Regardless of the size of the bedroom, a loft has certain attractions over a standard bed. For one thing, it solves the problem of vacuuming under the bed, which is now easy to make without bending. Weighing the benefits explains why lofts keep increasing in popularity.
