Why are bike shorts so tight and why do have to wear them ?
I see people ride bikes why do wear those tight shorts ? Also what they made from ?
The aerodynamic and moisture wicking properties of bike shorts are good reasons to wear bike shorts.
But BY FAR, the overwhelming reason to wear bike shorts is because of the padding it provides for your crotch. There is a pad, called a chamois, that not only provides padding, but is made from anti-bacterial material. Without it, you would develop serious saddle sores and the bacteria that builds up from sweat and whatever leaks out of your butt hole would do serious damage to your crotch.
Ask any cyclist…and if they told you they could ride in skin tight shorts without a chamois pad, or ride in baggy shorts with a chamios pad, they would choose the latter. Many pro cyclists are willing to ride with broken collar bones from crashing. But there are many pros that will pull out of races due to saddle sores they develop. Your bike shorts is probably the most important thing to a serious cyclist other than his bike.
