Maintaining Your Car Brakes
In your Corvette, the true lifesaver are the brakes. Of course no one denies the importance of the engine that’s required for mobility or the suspension that gives a comfortable ride. The air conditioning and ventilation are both important so that the elements do not get the better of you. But, when you are merrily belting away at 100 mph and taking the curves sharply if you were to suddenly come across an obstruction, or, more seriously if there’s someone crossing the road what would you do? Naturally, you’d apply the brakes. At that time, it’s your brakes that will save the situation. Maintaining your car brakes could mean the difference between life and death. C5 Corvette brakes as well as the C6 Corvette brakes both have to be maintained. Maintenance could mean routine change of brake accessories, procurement of rotors and calipers, going in for a new set of brake pads or ordering a new brake package for a total overhaul of your Corvette brakes.
Your C5 Corvette brakes would need simple items for routine maintenance. These could be the brake fluid test strips and the bleeder tool. The bleeder tool comes in various categories such as the MaxPro and the DIY. You may also need to stock up certain amount of high temperature brake fluid for your garage level maintenance. For your C5 Corvette brakes, it would be prudent to go for the best brakes pads. In this direction, you could take a closer look at the Hawk HPS (Street) pads for the rear and the GM-OEM pads for the front. These are both ceramic brake pads that are great for racing and also reduce the buildup of the black powder on your wheels.
For your C6 Corvette brakes, you could order one of the High Performance brake packages. One of such packages may contain 13″Baer EradiSpeed cross drilled and slotted rotors for the front and similar 12″cross drilled and slotted rotor for the rear. These packages for the C6 Corvette brakes also contain the high temperature brake fluid as well as the DOT approved Stainless Steel brake lines.
