Usually the bolts lie on the bolt circle for the wheel, with the centre of the bolt right on the circumference of the bolt circle. It does not matter if it is a four-hole or five-hole pattern for the truck wheel, the positioning of the bolts remain the same. The alloy wheels have lug nuts in them, which can fit only the actual ones from the factory. There are problems when trying to fit local lug nuts into these alloy wheels as these will not be torqued down properly into the lugholes of the truck wheel.
The offset for the truck wheel can be calculated both in negative and in positive; this offset is actually the distance from the hub mounting to the actual centre line of the rim. This requirement is extremely important for all wheels including the alloy wheels. The offset is important to judge the scrub radius as applicable to the truck steering. This is crucial for the truck to allow it the option of smooth maneuvering. The alloy wheels generally have a positive offset that means the mounted hub is closer to the rim of the wheel. The wheel size for the truck and other heavy vehicles depends on its load carrying capacity also known as the load factor. This is calculated as the diameter of the wheel without the measurement for the rim flange. The increase in width of the wheel will increase its overall size. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the correct wheel width to prevent any mishaps.
The load factor that the wheel of a truck can sustain decides the usefulness of the truck. For heavy-duty truck, this load factor is extremely significant. The alloy wheels are usually strong enough and have a good load factor. The load factor or the load capacity for the wheels of the truck is usually stamped on the back of the wheels. This load capacity is also dependent on the axle type, number of lugs or bores, and the type of material used to create the wheel. If a wheel is mounted on, a free roller trailing axle then the chances of it carrying more amount of weight is true.
