Here we go – the VITUS Zenium road bike, 2011 model, review. The frame is made out of triple-butted 6.61 aluminium with custom-drawn aerospace tubing stands as a testament to why alloy frames live on despite the challenges from their carbon cousins. As the manufacturer claims the Zenium is light, stiff, responsive and a joy to ride indeed and its semi-compact and rider-friendly geometry means the Zenium cruises beautifully in comfort just as easily as it will sprint to the line when you put the power down.
So if you want to ride further, faster, longer; you want to prove yourself against your peers and £800 is your budget the Vitus Zenium road bike does deliver exactly what it says on the tin (box:).
The Zenium is the perfect companion for group rides with friends, Audax or Cyclosportive events, year-round training or just general leisure riding, but you shouldn’t be outclassed by the company in your local triathlon or club race either.
Zeniums specification does this fab frame a justice, and the selected components do bring out the best in you and the bike. A Carbon Fork for reduced road buzz; Shimano Tiagra compact double chainset for hill-climbing prowess; 18-speed Shimano Tiagra drivetrain for clean, controlled shifting and not to forget lightweight factory Pro-Lite stiff wheelset for speed and strength. Finishing kit from Controltech and Vitus and quality tyres from Vittoria, not bad for bike which is ready to roll, right out of the box, at very competitive price – the RRP is £800.

Brief History of VITUS BIKES:
Originally steel tubing supplier in 60’s for french bike manufactures likes Gitane or Peugeot, Vitus started produce their own frames and later complete bikes in 70’s. Pioneering bonded and lugged aluminum ‘Dural’ tubing constriction.
Probably best known in 80’s for their Vitus 979 – one of the first mass produced alloy frameset ridden among other by Sean Kelly in many 80’s stage races including the Tour the France. Follow by Vitus 979 Carbone in 1982 – again one of the first lugged composite frames to be used in pro action.Vitus Bikes continue in this accent on performance and dedication to innovate tradition up to this day.
