Are you going on your first motorcycle road trip? The idea certainly sounds exciting. What better way to spend the weekend speeding on your motorbike to a destination that is nothing short of dreamy.
Of course, it is important to remember that motorcycle trips require intensive planning and preparation. In fact, these demand more thorough planning than car road trips. Yes, riding a motorbike gives you that sense of freedom and adrenaline rush but certain limitations also require you to be more careful and cautious.
For one, motorcycles have limited storage capacity. This means that you cannot bring the entire house with you. Aside from that, long distance traveling can be more tiring when you are driving a bike more than when you are driving a car. Fortunately, these tips below will help ensure that you get to have motorcycle getaway that will be unforgettable because of good memories.
What to Pack
First, you need to invest in some type of a storage bag like saddlebags, tank bags and tail bags. Then you must know which items to bring with you. Depending on the kind of trip you are planning to have and the duration of your travel, make smart choices on clothing, personal items, and other equipment that you need to bring with you to this trip. It would help to make a checklist of all the item so you do not miss out on anything that is important. Also, it would be a good idea to bring small amounts or quantities of items so that you can save space on your luggage.
Inspect Your Bike
Do not leave home without inspecting your bike. See to it that both tires are fully inflated. Make use of an air pressure monitor, which you should also bring with you to your trip. Check the cables of the clutch and brakes. Ensure that the controls are intact and are in good working condition. Look at the headlights, turn signal, and brake light. See if they are working. Protect Yourself
Wear protective gear during the entire road trip. For starters, don a full-face helmet that fits snugly into your head. Slip into a pair of goggles to keep your eyes protected from dust and debris. Then do not forget the motorcycle jacket and leather pants for the protection of your upper and lower body.
