Front derailer trouble calibrating.?
21spd MTB Grip shift.
I have the derailer lined up with big gear flush and chain on 1st with rear on 7th cog.
I have tryed by the book using low set then taut cable with derailer set at 1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5 and 3.0 milimeters off big gears closest tooth to outer cage using a digital caliper. Nothing works! 1st gear is ofcorse perfect but it’ll either over shoot or under shoot 2nd and 3rd by a half of click everytime no matter how I adjust the cage,barrel screw and low. High doesnt fall into play because it doesnt even come close to touching unless the shifters exactly on 3rd which it over shoots then end up on 2 1/2 dragging on cage. Please help me out if i’m doing something wrong give me detailed instructions not websites of places to look considering my pdf of my bike doesnt work. I need pro help from anyone who has done this before. Thanks in advance.
Start with the front and rear gears set to #1. Adjust the low gear limit screw so the front derailleur just clears the inside of the chain. You may have to adjust the cable clamp. The cable can be fairly slack in the smallest ring. Shift to # 2 and adjust the barrel adjuster so it lines up. If # 3 overshoots the chain ring adjust the high gear limit stop. You can’t use some gear combinations without the chain rubbing the front derailleur.
