Can I install V-brakes on Cyclocross bikes?
I have a cyclocross that I mainly use as a commuter and my son’s trailer puller. When going down this steep hill, along with his weight and trailer, the canti brakes is a bit lacking in strength.
Are the canti mounts on the fork and frame compatible with v-brakes? And, would I gain much braking power?

Yes, you can replace the cantilever brakes with v-brakes. However, the pull ratio for v-brakes is different than for cantilever brakes so you need to do one of 2 things to make them work. You can either buy new brake levers specifically designed for v-brakes,http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/tektro-road-v-brake-levers/15-146 or you can install a gadget known as a travel agent http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/travel-agent/15-144 which will change the pull ratio to work with your old levers. If your bike has brakes and shifters in the same levers, the second choice is the only way to go
