I have the latest version of Dreamweaver and whenever I build a Web site I can’t center the entire page exactly as I laid it out. I want the layers to move with the
tag instead of the layers just being left out to the side. And then once the everything is centered correctly, how do you lock it so it stays that way when the users browser is resized? Thanks.
are you trying to do something like this yahoo answers page where the middle portion is always centered with spaces on left and right? if i’ve understood right, then between your
tags, do the following:
- create a 3-column table
- set the left and right column widths to fixed pixels or use percentage. for instance, set left and right columns to 10% each and middle column to 80%, something like this:
. As I already mentioned, you may want to use fixed pixels for width instead of percentages. It depends on your layout and what you are trying to achieve.
That’s basically it. Keep trying. You can get the same effect using only
tags instead of
tags but that may be a little harder. Just stick with tables for now.
A small tip: To make life easier for youself, learn creating webpage layout using photoshop and slice it using ImageReady. It will generate all the required html code for you but you’ll still need to know how to use html cause it may not be a perfect solution for you. Nevertheless it’ll save you a lot of time.
