Dura Ace 7900 or ZIPP 404?
I’m going to get a new bike soon but can’t decide which one to chose: (I want a Fast bike)
2009 Cervelo S2 Ultegra 6600 w/ ZIPP 404
or
2009 Cervelo S2 Dura Ace 7900 w/ mid-range Clincher Tires
My alternative choices are:
2009 Cervelo S3 Dura Ace 7900 w/ mid-range clincher tires – Used for 1000KM
or
08 Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL Dura Ace(old model)
Plz give me some suggestions =D
Hi There,
When you are making this decision i recommend you remember which part of the bike is in closest contact with the ground. The ultegra 6600 works perfectly fine and many people would choose it over the the 7900 dura ace, due to the high frequency of chain snaps and Rear Mech cage snaps that occur with the 7900. With the zipps, they are incredibly strong and light wheels which would give you an advantage in weight, although i suggest you buy the clincher version of the 404′s as tubular tires are expensive and difficult to replace as a tubular wheel-set can only be messed around so much before the carbon threads.
Basically, the Zipp’s are a much better buy than the 7900.
Hope this helps,
Roger Hammond and Andreas Klier on the Zipp 303
