Is There a Real Need for Balance Bikes?
Parents may sometimes feel that balance bikes are just an extra expense. Kids can actually learn to do biking with the use of real bikes. With today’s tight economy, preference should be given to our basic needs, as much as possible. When you think it is the right time for the kids to learn how to use bikes, it is wiser to buy them real bikes their size instead. When you give them the bicycle fit for their age, the risk of accidents can be lessened. Then the next kid purchase that you should next have is for protective gear like helmets, knee pads and elbow-protect. But do you think it is really sensible to skip the kids’ learning with the use of a balance bike?
This really depends on a child’s speed of learning the sport and his willingness and passion for it. When you think that he really likes biking but he is just too afraid to try it, this is when you do something about it. Balance bikes help overcome fear of using real bicycles. They can manage their own speed because these stride bikes doesn’t have foot pedals. They move forward as they push themselves forward. When they think they are gliding a bit fast, they can use their feet to stop the bike from moving. There are balance bike models which have foot pedals. Just tell your kids how and when to use it. There are times the height of the bike itself keeps kids from using bikes; the low seat provided by the stride bikes can convince children that it is alright to use them.
What you really just ought to do as a parent is to give encouragement. You have to help build up their confidence. Children’s firsts usually are the ones you have to witness and provide guidance, when necessary. It will make you take note of his strengths and weaknesses. Learning how to use bikes is important for everyone. It is a perfect physical exercise for everyone. And so as early as now, they must rise above their fear of using bicycles. But still, practice using balance bikes can be crossed out when you think your child is sporty enough to handle biking well though he haven’t really tried riding a real bike yet. The early signs of being a sport fanatic can be detected whenever you see your kid’s eyes light up as he witness a sports event; whenever he actively participate to any game and whenever he eagerly want to try biking, basketball, baseball etc. In situations like these, the assistance of a balance bike may be safely disregarded.
The need for stride bikes depend on the readiness of your child. Introduce them to sports because it contributes to their physical development. You must not think of the cost especially when it is regarding the safety of your little ones.
