Is there any prejudice against cycling recumbent bike during triathlon event?
I am considering a recumbent bike for my next bike
However, I am still keen to participate in local cycling events like triathlon
I hope there is no need to have two bikes
I’ve never seen one in a triathlon, but I’ve seen most other types, road, hybrid, MTBs with off-road tyres, and even one with a basket on the front (that last one was ridden by a dear old lady who competed in a triathlon most weekends!).
It might be a good idea to contact some triathlon organisers, and see what their opinion is, but I can’t see any issues on safety, so they should allow it.
EDIT: I’ve thought of one possible objection, since you are considerably lower than someone riding a normal cycle, a rider glancing over his shoulder may not see you, and that rider could then pull out in front of you, possibly causing a collision.
