The Beauty And Our Inner Beast
As heavily as we come down on beauty today we all strive hard enough to be part of the beautiful people. It’s Okay to want to look your best and to be part of the world that you resent. Why? You resent it mostly because it’s not something that you’re a part of. You would accept it if you felt you had a ticket in there.
We make the choice not to be a part of it. We can spend our days seeking out a fat loss solution or applying face skin care cream five times per day. We can see the top plastic surgeon and ask for the secret night cream that will take 30 years off our 35 year old face. But we don’t do these things. Instead, we become (shall I dare say it) caddy.
Probably not. You probably realize on some level that sand in your shoes from playing on the beach or that nasty wet dog smell on your clothes from volunteering at the shelter are very beautiful. You just want to have that smell and the same high cheekbones and perfectly grubby clothes as you’ve seen on TV.
The problem is that every now and then we have that wonderful feeling wash over us. We feel, instantly and momentarily, absolutely beautiful. We shine and we feel love radiating from within and we even think we might be beautiful for a moment. Yet we are afraid to recognize that we are. Just because we have a few inches to take off the waistline we don’t need to believe we are un-beautiful.
We don’t need a ticket into the beauty pageant of the year. What we do want is to feel attractive. When we are at our best most of us can catch ourselves in one of those moments of feeling attractive. We often feel that way because we actually are.
No, we don’t roll out of bed looking like we’re ready to film the great flick of the century, but then again neither do they. We have hips and butts that we want to shrink and we either put the effort into doing so or we don’t. They happen to put the effort into doing so.
If you want to drop ten pounds or clear up your skin or smell better, those things are within your control. If you just want to magically appear to be one of the beautiful people, laugh a lot and love deeply. You’ll be surprised just how beautiful you just became.
