When is the (non-LED) LCD TV going to reach maturity in it’s product life cycle?
HDTV producers are constantly improving current “specs” as well as adding new ones. For example 60Hz refresh rate, to 120, to 240. But each of these new specs seems to renew it’s life cycle. With LED LCD HDTVs entry into the market (I would consider this a substitute), when do you see the decline of non-LED HDTVs? And is 60Hz the standard for HDTV refresh rates? I’m just asking because new specs equals HIGHER PRICES, which is bad for my TV shopping HAHA
Life spam of a LED or LED tv should be around 60,000 hours of use. This will also depend on the brand you get. If you buy a bargain price tv, don’t expect it to last like a name brand tv. The two most reliable tv is the market is Panasonic and Samsung. My first flat panel tv I purchased in 2002 is still running today, it is a Pioneer Plasma model 4330 43″ and the price paid at that time is $6,400. The refresh rate on LCD and LED tvs are important if you watch allot of fast action sports, it will have blur motion. The 120 HZ and 240HZ are less noticeable for blur motion, but then again you have to pay extra. Plasma does not have that problem and they are still considered to have the best picture quality of all tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs. You will notice that Panasonic Plasma are recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. No other manufacturer has a tv in each category. They are the most reliable tv in the market. If you read yahoo questions, you will notice that 95% of tv problems are from LCD/LED tvs and 95% of those are off brands. Panasonic is now also producing LCD and LED tvs. Hope this will help you out.
