I have a Grand am 2001 and my hood release lever is not working what can I do to open my hood?
I pulled it this morning and I heard it click like it opened it but then i checked and it wasn’t open. What can i do to open it.
You may have to have someone press gently on the center point of the front of the hood. It sounds as though your cable has stretched a bit and it needs to be lubricated.
If it has actually broken, you will have to find a point in the cable close to the hood and cut it and manually pull the cable inside the housing with a pair of needle nose pliers.
If it clicked I don’t think it is broken. Your latch assembly and cable have become slightly worn with use and age. A little lubrication on the both of them should free everything up once you get the hood up. Try to have someone gently press or even tap the center point at the front of the hood.
