Menstrual Cycle and Irregularity
Irregular cycles affect more women than previously thought. In most cases, this disorder in the system of ovulation suddenly appears before disappearing in the same way. Or it may also be linked to various diseases: diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease or a deficiency of estrogen or overweight or lack of female hormones.
It is commonly observed in women approaching menopause, and the condition is attributed to severe hormonal fluctuations of the body. Other physiological disorders may also result in irregular menstrual cycles.
The symptoms are mostly prevalent when a girl attains puberty and in the perimenopause stage. Some women may experience irregular menstruation cycles throughout their fertility period. Fluctuations in the levels of estrogen and progesterone are the main causative factors, but many other factors may also play a vital role in this disorder.
Some people may suggest that sex during menstruation will stimulate the production of certain hormone, thereby helping reduce some of the menstrual cramps.
Amenorrhoea – periods stops altogether for 6 months or longer. This may be due to stress, over training, malnutrition, or illness. It is also generally related to low body fat levels and in turn low female hormone levels.
Women who nurse their babies exclusively may not have a period for as long as a year or more after their pregnancies and will soon discover that the menstrual cycle and breastfeeding seem to be directly related to one another.
This is because sperm can survive for an average of 3 to 7 days in a woman’s body. If a woman tries baby making six or seven days before ovulating, it’s likely the sperm will still be around when her egg is released. A woman is also fertile about one or two days after ovulation. This is because the egg can live for about 24 hours after ovulation.
It is expected that a woman who starts to menstruate at the age of 13, stop at 50. They may menstruate three or four time in the first year. A middle aged woman’s menses may also become irregular before the menopause.
Because of the association between the menstrual cycle and eczema, progesterone creams and supplements are often used to treat the condition. Most women prefer to use supplements and creams that contain natural forms of progesterone.
Long cycles, on the other hand, by their sheer infrequency offer fewer opportunities for conception attempts in any given year. Insulin resistance has been implicated with lengthy menstrual cycles and could signal an underlying metabolic anomaly.
