Mountain bike Freeride frame to heavy?
I am looking to purchase a FR (freeride) bike frame. I am going to replace it with my hardtail frame and was wondering if 9.5 pounds is too heavy for a frame? I will be doing mostly freeride, dirt jumping, and downhill with it (A little cross country but I know its gonna be tough with this new frame) Heres the url for the frame…

And Also, If anyone has this frame could you tell me if you like it? Thanks everyone!
I haven’t heard how the Sette full-suss frames are holding up, but they sure are good deals. I do know that their hardtails are decent. That one’s a bit heavy for a 6″ bike, but you have to take into consideration that it’s using a coil, too. There are definitely lighter frames out there. However, we’re only talking about a pound or two. On a 38-45 pound bike it’s not a big deal and that weight can be an advantage for downhill sometimes. If you don’t need full-on dh parts, then you can save a lot of weight using all-mountain stuff and end up with a bike that won’t *quite* kill you when you pedal xc.
)
That said, it’s NOT the bike for any sort of dirt jumping or xc riding……for jumping, you *might* be able to get away with setting up the rear shock SPV really stiff as long as you can do the same to your fork and can carry some speed into the lips. Most forks with long travel just don’t get stiff….they’re meant to be small-bump compliant and plush. That’ll kill you on jumps (but you’ll be fine for drops!). Other than that, I don’t see a reason not to build it up unless you wanted to shop the used market for a *better* frame at a cheaper price….gotta be careful with used dh/fr frames, though. You might also look into Kona frames….. www.wheelworld.com usually has some awesome deals on them.
