Can you ride a “road bicycle” on a concrete footpath?
Hey all, my license is going to be suspended for 6 months in mid January for street racing (don’t worry i’ve learnt my lesson) so i need anthor mode of transport. I’m not a fan of public transport but i like to mountain Bike Ride in my spare time. However, mountain bikes aren’t great for travelling long distances in urban environments.
I always see road cyclist riding on the road… is it because the tyres on a road bike are only compatible with bitumen (won’t wear or burst)? I don’t really want to ride on the road.

I live in a somewhat small town and there are hardly many people walking on the footpaths in the suburbs… i won’t be riding the bike around in extremely populated areas e.g. the CBD – just the suburbs.
It’s all down to tyres.
Road bikes have lightweight, narrow tyres that are all about speed. They aren’t that tough, though, if you venture onto rougher roads. Fitting slightly heavier and wider tyres will improve the ride on such terrain.
Mountain bikes: absolutely ideal for riding long distances! Again, it’s about tyres. Put some slick tyres on a mountain bike and go for it (in style AND comfort).
