i know its alot to ask but how muhc should this bike be?
Ok, I’d have to agree that £150 isn’t enough for a bike, sorry. A couple of months ago I was looking for bikes in that price range and I’ve been through two in 3 or 4 months.
I see it was mentioned that £150 doesn’t buy a decent saddle…don’t listen to him. If your into Professional or competitive cycling then yes, you would be spending over a grand on a good bike, but don’t listen to crazy mountain bikers like some of my friends who spend more money on their seat posts than I did on my last two bikes combined.
As fore some actual advice you can use, cheap bikes will definitely fall apart quickly, and don’t get one with a steel frame, it rusts very easily, get aluminium. Right now I’m getting my first good mountain bike as I’m getting into more and my 18tonne steel monster can barely move. I’m looking at the kona blast which has the basics for a good MTB, disc brakes, OK forks, light and strong frame(aluminium of course) and I’m looking at just above £300, which is still considered to be pretty cheap for a mountain bike.
If you take the time to look then I’m sure you can find a cheap enough bike for you, but I would recommend looking at the kona lan’ai, kona make really strong bikes, people often say get the specialized hardrock as a starter bike, but personally I don’t like it. If your really struggling to find something in your price range, then halfords is a final option. People will say avoid it, which you normally should, their bikes die very easily, but their carrera bikes are quite decent and very cheap. Check their shop for a carrera vulcan or vengeance which are quite cheap.
