How To Find No-cost Scrapbook Supplies
Now that so many good scrapbook supply designers are Internet savvy, there’s an abundance of free digital scrapbooking supplies. As long as you know how to do an online search and download files, you can have an almost endless supply of designs to create beautiful scrapbooks. That caused popular artist Mary Englebreit to remark recently that the Web is a great source of digital scrapbook images that will yield nearly anything you might need. And she’s an authority on quality images; products carrying her illustrations sell like crazy!
The following are some samples of the types of free scrapbooking materials I’ve found on the Internet:
Babies and Children
Like weddings, the birth and growth years of a baby often generate a lot of pictures. And, of course, scrapbookers love to use those photos to create family keepsakes. Fortunately, you can find a huge selection of scrapbooking designs for babies. If you’re not up on baby images, however, you might find the color schemes a little surprising these days. Chocolate brown, burnt orange and red are popular, as are various shades of green. Of course, you can still find lots of blue and pink, but these days there are many bold color choices too. And for older children, there is a lot of free clip art that reflects special interests, like ballet images and free football clip art.
Antique
There seems to be an upsurge in the number of people looking for vintage scrapbook materials. That could be because antique art is so timeless and creates such classic-looking results. Antique cards make terrific vintage scrapbook embellishments, as does antique clipart. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Vintage graphics also cover a wide variety of subjects, including images as diverse as Victorian fashion illustrations, magic show posters, cigar labels, vintage flower seed packets, old sailing ships and historical sailing ships. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, you can probably find vintage art to match.
Holidays
Holidays just naturally invite scrapbooking, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine’s Day aren’t the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments on the Web for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There is also free environmental clipart for Earth Day, and images for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and any other holiday you can think of; even the off-beat and downright bizarre ones.
Butterflies and Flowers
I’ve definitely noticed that scrapbookers love flowers, and why not? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies, too, have a large audience, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because you can find them in both illustration and photographic form, and in modern and vintage forms. There are even butterfly images that sometimes even span both vintage and modern in the same collections.
Wedding Images
Weddings and scrapbooks were made to go together, because couples usually have at least one photo wedding album. But a wedding scrapbook can preserve your memories in an even more creative way. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbook images on the Web that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if for some reason you don’t find any specifically for weddings that appeal to you, flower images can also give you a timeless look.
So the next time you need scrapbooking supplies, check the Internet. You might find some amazing free things.
