a) if a 15.00 mL sample of CD cleaner weighs 11.775 g at 20 deg. C, which solvent is most likely to be present?
b) The chemist analyzing the cleaner calibrats her equipment and finds that the pipet is accurate to +/- 0.02 mL, and the balance is accurate to +/- 0.003 g. Is this equipment precise enough to distinguish between ethanol and isopropanol?
a) isopropanol take 11.775 and divide it by 15 you get exactly 0.785.
b)No, because they are within .004 of each other in order to get an accurate reading you would need a pipet that is accurate to 3 sig figs but 4 would be better.
