Do you remember when ( ha ha) we were cautioned NEVER to trust anone over 30?
What the hell,ever happened to that concept? And BTW, now some are saying Obama is too young to be in the Oval office. I am not taking a stand, nor am I looking for an argument, so please don’t start one. But what do you think? I believe this advice was directed toward the anti-Vietman war group. Was it right?
For me, it was due to the fact that Big Brother & the Establishment were the people whom we THOUGHT we holding us back from living a life of true freedom that we we being taught (in school) was our right to have as American Citizens. We wanted total freedom & those over the age of 30 SEEMED to be running the show that would not allow us to do as we pleased.
You have to remember that we were also being “swayed” by the people who were putting these types of thoughts & ideas in our young & inexperiened minds. Most of us were using some type of mind altering substance…legal & illegal. Remember, this was the time when an 18 year old could not vote! That came later & when it happened, those who had already been “groomed” for taking part in the weakening of the system, were getting their degrees & stepping directly into the seats of the very people they thought were the enemies of attaining a country with Civil Liberties for ALL of the people. Now that they have had a chance to change the world for the better, they realize that they have just made it worse. They figure if they take it back, then they can fix what the messed up. It’s just NOT gonna be so easy the second time around. This time the people are not going to have protection & we will have to protect ourselves from one another…just like generation before us did.
*Edit: We were part of an anti-establishment movement that wanted freedom for the people. We were suffering severe discrimination due to our choice in clothing, hairstyles, & communist philosophies. Many of our Professors were card carrying members of the Comminist Party & the CIA was attempting to SILENCE these people & they used the peace rallies & College campuses to divide & conquer when they could no longer gain control without violence. It’s still going on today, just as it was then…only with the media assisting in messing with our freedomj of choice. Yet, I can see why they have had to give it their best shot!
