Help with MTB wheels selection?
I am after a new set of 26″ wheels for my Kona Fire Mountain. The bike is used on and off road (light trails mainly). I would like the wheels to be lighter than my standard ones (Rigida ZAC-19SL rims and stainless 14g spokes), and also to look pretty cool.
My budget is £160ish for the pair if its possible!

Just an opinion,but the Zac-19 rim was about the bestbudget rim there was at the time.
I suggest trying a lighter tire and see how that works for you before you spend alot.
I say this because your rims are not very heavy,yet the tires may be.
Rotational mass means more against pedaling than the spokes and hub,as well the rim.The real nasty masses are in the tire .
Lighter spokes are for racing.[butted and double butted]For normal off-roading they are crap.
Your wheels also have coated brass nipples,the best.A lighter wheel set may have superlight aluminum nipples.[Total junk]
I also dislike replacing a wheel that has not broken.A strong rim/wheel should be cherished.
