Most bike fit specialists fit riders in a static position. This is because the traditional tools of the trade tape measures and plumb bobs dont allow accurate measurements while the rider is pedaling.
Enter Retul. Retul is a dynamic fit system that captures motion and position while pedaling, producing a superior bike fit with incredible accuracy.
How it Works
Using eight (8) strategically placed LED markers, Retul gathers information several hundred times per second while transmitting data to a PC in real time. The collected data is then condensed into a numerical spreadsheet which our bike fit specialists interpret, thus making the appropriate changes.
The Benefits
Biomechanics are Best Assessed in a Dynamic State
As mentioned above; biomechanics (bike fit) are best assessed in dynamic state. Unlike conventional static fit systems, Retul captures motion and position in real time while under load every 2 milliseconds for incredible accuracy.
Biomechanics are Best Assessed in 3-Dimensions
Fit data collected in a traditional 2-dimensional plane (i.e. video capture based system) is fairly limited because the fitter can only look at one view at a time and those views stand as independent reference points. In order to make the best fit recommendations, the fitter (and athlete) must realize that the front and side views are actually interdependent reference points. In other words, the front and side view must be viewed simultaneously in 3-D in order to see how all the applicable movements of the body are working together. Retul is a 3-D system capable of analyzing position in x, y, and z planes.
Measurements Must be Accurate
Measurements made by traditional tools have one thing in common: they are subject to human error and therefore can be inaccurate. Even slight inaccuracies can completely change the riders feel and athletic performance. Retul’s motion capture technology is accurate to less than a millimeter, creating true objective data which can be utilized by the right fitter for the perfect biomechanical fit.
