Why does my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 fail to shift from 2nd to 3rd (automatic w/od)?
My truck has 184,000 miles and been failing to shift from 2nd to 3rd on its own. I have to let off the gas then come back on the pedal. This has been going on for 3 or 4 years. Had the trans rebuilt 12/07. Still does the same thing; just not all the time now. Is the problem in the trans or computer. The truck is a 318ci with a 4 speed automatic (Includes od).
since you had the transmission rebuilt they should have put a warranty on it ,because that wasn’t that long ago,id take it back to them and tell them it wasn’t shifting right,they was supposed to fix that problem when they re-built it,I’m sure you got some kind of a warranty with it,have the shop that built the transmission to scan the computer,it sounds like a bad shift module on it,good luck on it.
