Checking out a Used Road Bicycle Bike?
I am planning on spending 500$ on a used Road Bike. This is a lot of money for me, so I want to thoroughly check out the bike so I am not getting a bad deal, and also so I can re-sell it for a good price if I choose to go that route. Can you please tell me all the things I need to look at carefully and scope out? Also, what should I be looking for with the various components? Are there different tests I can do ON the bike when assessing it? Thanks in advance!
check for excessive wear and tear by the amount of scratches on the frame, wheels, handlebars, etc.
check the chainrings and cassette for cracked teeth
check wheels for rust and no loose spokes
$500 for a used bike could be a good price if the components and bike frame are good BUT we need to know the make, model, level of gruppo, etc.
AND make darn sure it is the right size for you
by the way, 500 to 600 bucks is a good NEW entry level road bike, so consider buying a new bike at your local bike shop
