I have a vintage Peugeot road bike that I want to covert to fixie horiztonal drop outs all…..?
How much will it cost to have the old vertical dropouts removed and horizontal drop outs welded on…and.will it be strong enough?
If your frame is welded it would be a better idea to buy a chain tensioner and replace the derailleur with it. These are readily available from almost anyplace that sells bike parts. These cost about $40.
If your frame is lugged and brazed the dropouts can be replaced rather easily. Figure somewhere about $100. No worries about strength!
