What are the best tyres to use to avoid punctures in a hybrid bike which may be used at times off road?
I ride with Bontrager’s on mine, switching to cyclocross tires for the winter months due to the huge amount of traction sand dumped on the roads here. The Bontrager is a great road tire, but I found the first time I hit a gravel spot on a bike path the rear tire got cut. The bike shop where I bought them, though gave me 50% off on the replacement tire, as he felt that shouldn’t have occurred.
One of my riding friends got a set of Schwalbe Marathon tires. They are holding up better than anyone (in our riding group) else’s in the “suprise gravel ahead” contest. http://www.schwalbetires.com/bike_tires/road_tires
