Making The Choice Between A Road Bike Or A Mountain Bike
Sometimes it can be hard to find a bike that exactly fits your needs. This can be especially true if you have never really considered the different types of bikes you can get. Usually mountain bikes have superior suspension and people find them more comfortable to ride. How can you choose the right bike?
First of all you have to decide what the purpose of the bike is. To do this there are a few points that you should take into consideration, the first is where you plan to ride your bike. Pay extra attention to the terrain and length of your journeys. You will want to choose a bike that will be comfortable as well as being able to handle different types of terrain. Of course if you need speed and you will be on the road then racing bikes are probably most suitable for you. If you need the ability to go over different types of terrain then you will most likely be better off with a mountain bike.
Making the choice between speed and comfort is never easy. In general the faster bikes are faster because they’re lighter and this generally means removing features such as suspension, which will of course not be as comfortable for you to ride. You will also need to bear in mind the different riding postures for the different styles of bikes. Road bikes require that you use a posture that makes you more aerodynamic and this can sometimes be uncomfortable for people who have never ridden like this before.
Once you’ve chosen your particular type of bike the next thing you need to concentrate on is the exact model that you want to buy. In every bike range you will find that there are many different models for you to choose from. For example carbon fibre whilst expensive is extremely light and so is a great material forroad bicycles. When it comes to mountain bikes extra features to consider are the wheel size, suspension and braking system.
Of course you have to let your budget decide the type of bike you ultimately go for. Naturally in a world without money everyone would have a carbon fibre bike with all the extras but if money is a concern you can still manage to get a high-quality bike at an affordable price.
