Fire Pits For Backyard Camping Fun
The first camping trip can be a truly memorable experience for a child. Parents worry that the child will become afraid of night noises or not be able to fall asleep in an unusual environment. You can start with a test run; a backyard camp-out gives you a chance to set up the tent and sleep under the stars. It’s the best of both worlds: the chance to experience sleeping outdoors, but with the security of knowing that home is a only few steps away.
But, what sort of campfire can you have at home? It just isn’t a camp out if you can’t roast marshmallows, sing songs or tell tall tales around the fire. Thankfully, there is a great solution for this as you can have memorable campfire moments in your own backyard. Your back yard adventure begins with purchasing your new fire pit.
It is important to exercise caution, however, if you have small children when you shop for a fire pit. Make sure to choose a model that doesn’t have any tripping hazards or sharp edges that could injure a small child. You will also need a cover for your fire pit, like a screen for added safety. With due caution, families can enjoy the beauty of a pit fire without placing their children in harm’s way.
And be sure to recreate an authentic campfire experience around your pit. Surround the fire pit with chairs, benches or other seating so everyone can sit down and enjoy. While you may want to wait ’til little ones to fall asleep for scary tales… camping means a story swap! If anyone plays an instrument this is the time; guitars are welcome at any camp out. A singalong around a pit fire is likely to become a cherished family tradition.
Most importantly, kids enjoy the food aspect of pit fires. They are sure to enjoy roasting hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire. Choose some long sticks from around the yard or unwind a few metal coathangers to make proper roasting utensils. Just always exercise caution and make sure the children stay a safe distance away from the fire at all times. Make sure to stock up on chocolate and graham crackers to make s’mores with those marshmallows, and grab some hot dog buns, mustard and relish to make those hot dogs complete. If you are in possession of a campfire kettle, you will be able to brew some lovely tea or have some nice cocoa over the fire pit.
If you want to have a stress free camping experience with the family, you would do well to set up your own outdoor fire pit in the backyard. You will be sure to create memories that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
