Be Mindful of who Sits in the Front seat of your car
It is true that car air bags play a great role in saving our lives by protecting us from the possible injuries caused by a collision. But, at the same time you have to be very careful who sits in the front seat. In may studies, it has been found that usage of air bags is very helpful, but experts say that small children should be kept away from the blow of air bags; rather they should sit in the back seats. This is important information because, an air bag deploys upward in a very powerful way. Smaller and lighter individuals could be hurt from the explosive speed in which they deploy.
Safety devices like air bags and seat belts give us maximum protection from a collision. However, you should know that an airbag opens in a fraction of a second and at around two hundred miles per hour. With this speed, the bag can injure young children and babies sitting in car seats placed on the passenger seat. To avoid putting your children at risk they should always sit in the rear seats of your vehicle.
Just like young children It is also dangerous to sit elders in front as well. The design of the air bag is to open before you can blink an eye. At that rate of speed a direct impact is very harmful and can injury there delicate head or neck. So just like children older folks should also sit in the rear of the vehicle.
Did you know that seat belts are not only designed to hold you in your seat they are also designed from reducing the distant of which the airbag impacts your body. New seat belt designs are equipped with pre-tensioners. Seat belt tensioners deploy just like airbags and they retract and tighten instantly. This action is important because is draws your buttocks as close to the rear of the seat as possible, thereby increasing the distance of which the airbag hits your body.
You will be happy to know that today all cars come standard with airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners.
In addition all car manufacturers list there safety features online and display safety ratings for you to compare. However, all that is fine and dandy, but it is your responsibility to sit your children and elders in the rear seats of your car. In addition, it is your responsibility to strap your seat belt on every time you get in your car to drive. So when it comes down to safety it is your personal choice that makes the most difference.
