Shimano Incorporated was first founded in the early 1920s. It started the business as producer and manufacturer of bicycle components and was formerly known as Shimano Iron Works. Fishing, as compared to the olden days is no longer just the primary means of livelihood of the people. Now, it is a hobby, a recreation, and a serious sport at the same time.
