I’m buying a mtb and it comes with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. Are these brakes any good…?
…compared to the ordinary wired ones, performance wise? And how much do you think these brakes usually cost on the market? Only thing I know about the brakes is that they’re made by Shimano, nothing else.
I think that their pretty good. There are several levels of performance on Shimano. I think that the lowest that offer hydraulic disc brakes is Deore, above are SLX, XT and XTR. Performance wise, they blow the standard v-brakes (the ones that operate on the rim). You have better modulation (you won’t feel as an ON-OFF operation), and probably power.
