Would you buy a £200 mountain bike off the Internet?
Specifically looking at a Barracuda Core Mens 21-Spd Hard Tail on Amazon. I know the experts are going to say go to your local bike shop, try it out etc.., but I have a small £200 budget of Amazon vouchers to spend and so cant do that.
Just want something good enough to use at the weekends and lose a few xmas pounds not a serious off-road bike. Will this do the job or be a pile of junk?
I wouldn’t buy anything off the internet because you don’t know if it fits, it is much harder to make a warranty claim if something goes wrong, and you will have to either pay to have the bike put together or if you know how to put a bike together and have the tools (metric allen keys, flat head or phillips screwdriver, tire pump, and pedal wrench are the basics, and really, cone wrench to adjust the bearings in the wheels, wrenches to adjust the bearings in the headset and Bottom Bracket, and a Spoke Wrench to straighten the wheels are quite useful) you can try to put it together yourself. By the time you pay someone to put the bike together safely you might as well go to a bike shop, get fitted for a bike that you will be more comfortable on, will get a lifetime frame warranty with, and usually a free tune-up with (sometimes more, depending on the shop). Use the vouchers for a TV or some other form of entertainment. Good luck!
