Cr-Mo or hi steel bmx bike frame?
wich is better for a bmx?
You need to be careful here.
If you look closely, some frames are made with weird variances. Here are a couple:
CrMo main tube
CrMo main frame
CrMo main triangle
When it has this or something close then the frame is only partially CrMo, so in my opinion it really isn’t any better than a 100% hiten (high tensile steel) frame.
But wait, there’s more…
If the frame is NOT labeled as 4130 Cr Mo or some other variant then it is barely above hiten as far as strength. In other words, if it doesn’t specifically have the numbers 4130 on it then the quality is suspect.
A true 4130 chrome moly frame can be very expensive and it is rare to find them on anything except the most expensive bikes. They tend to even more expensive than aluminum.
