Titanium Wedding Rings are Strong and Lasting
The word titanium brings to mind images of strength and durability. Could there be a stronger statement of the commitment and love symbolized by a wedding ring? Although it may seem rather common, this metal has attributes that lend themselves easily to crafting stylish and durable wedding and engagement rings.
When it comes to metals, titanium is one of the strongest. A large amount of force is needed in order for a titanium ring to get bent out of shape. For instance, it’s less likely than a gold wedding ring to be dented if you catch your hand in a car door. You might be able to scratch it, but it won’t be easy. A bit of polish and it will shine like new.
Yet, despite this hardness, wearers need have no concerns about being unable to remove a titanium ring in an emergency. In rare instances, a gold ring can be bent into a finger, causing painful pressure. With a titanium wedding ring, this is more unlikely. If it does happen, you can cut off the ring just like you would any other.
The aerospace industry and similar leading edge manufacturing sectors use titanium because of its incredible strength. Yet there is another. It’s approximately one third the weight of gold, making it very lightweight. Many enjoy the feathery feel of a titanium ring. It sits lightly on the hand and presents no resistance to moving the finger. For those who spend so much time at the keyboard these days, that can be a big plus.
As well, titanium is hypoallergenic and can be worn constantly with no worries about skin conditions. The skin remains unaffected. Titanium is used in hip implants and other medical applications and is perfectly benign.
There’s more to titanium engagement and wedding rings than just their practicality, however. Plus, they are incredibly beautiful.
Natural titanium is a grayish metal, similar to Stainless Steel only brighter. Not only can it be crafted into detailed designs due to its hardness, it can also be polished to shine brightly. Those attributes can produce an elegant and unique piece of jewellery. It can also be treated during manufacture to produce a lustrous black. However, make sure you get genuine black titanium; if it has just been coated it will have to be restored periodically.
Men especially like the edgy style that comes with this alternative wedding ring material. By mixing the black and gray kinds you get more of a design range. The result is a stellar wedding ring that is ultra-lightweight, stylish and unusual.
