Why do white Americans not like to hire or associate with minorities?
Look at most companies, police and fire departments, fraternities and wedding pictures. At the most, you will usually find one token minority in every one, if that, if it involves white people. There aren’t even Indians or Asians. Many white women don’t like to get married to minorities, unless they have a lot of money. In the end, they want a white guy at their side in the wedding.
Canada in my mind is more integrated. Indian, Asian and white people hang out together and are treated as equals, not a hanger-on that they keep to fend off claims of racism.
I think a lot of white Americans can be nice people, but they are maliciously, underhandedly racist and I don’t know why.
I think you’re paranoid. I don’t choose my friends based on race. If a friend happens to be of another race, that’s great, but I’m not going to go looking for African-Americans to befriend simply because of the color of their skin. I think that would be more racist than what you describe.
I think the main reason society is as you describe is simply the fact that people tend to live in groups which self-segregate. Most (though certainly not all) suburbs are predominantly white, and most (though again not all) inner cities are predominantly populated by minorities. Quite honestly, I don’t think there’s a lot of opportunity for easy co-mingling away from work for most people.
