Why can’t I fix the inner tube for my bike?
My bike’s inner tube has a hole in it. I went on youtube to learn how to fix it. I did all the procedure to fix it. But the patch keeps coming off. How can I fix this?
My grandma said that it could be the patch since the whole little packet cost $1.00 at Academy. Its Bell.
What do you think?
It’s probably not you doing it wrong. Bike stores generally don’t fix tubes because there is a high failure rate.
One common problem is that some glues won’t work with some patches or tube materials.
At the very least you need to have the tube area around the hole clean and roughed up with sandpaper. A trick I’ve found that works most of the time when patches don’t stick is to clean the area to be patched with acetone (or use ABS tubing solvent) and let it dry before gluing on the patch. Also, let the glue pretty well dry before putting on the patch.
If all else fails get a new tube .. they are only about $5.
